CitizenReady is built privacy-first. You don’t need an account to study, your practice data stays on your device, and we never track you across other apps or sell your data. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with information.
CitizenReady stores all your study progress and settings locally on your device, in an on-device database. This information is not transmitted to any CitizenReady-owned server.
Signing in is optional — you can use all study features without an account. When you do sign in with Apple, we store your Apple user ID, email (if you choose to share it), an internal account identifier, and login timestamps locally on your device. This enables subscription restoration. We never share this information, and there is no CitizenReady backend that receives it.
We never track you across other apps or websites, show ads, or sell your data. There is no Advertising Identifier (IDFA), no App Tracking Transparency prompt, and no cross-app tracking.
To keep the app stable and improve it, we may collect privacy-preserving diagnostics: crash reports and performance metrics (via Apple MetricKit and Sentry) and anonymous product-interaction events — for example, that a practice session started (via TelemetryDeck). This data is never linked to your identity and never includes your answers, quiz content, ZIP code, or audio. These services use only anonymous, per-install identifiers and perform no cross-app tracking.
When the app launches it downloads a small configuration file from CitizenReady to manage which features are available. This request sends no personal information — it only asks for the current settings.
To keep your elected officials current between app updates, the app periodically downloads a refreshed officials dataset (names and photos of Senators, Representatives, and Governors) from CitizenReady. This request sends no personal information — your ZIP code never leaves your device. If you’re offline or the download fails, the app keeps using the officials data bundled with it.
Your ZIP code is used only locally, to show your elected officials. It is never sent to any server.
CitizenReady offers an optional premium subscription, handled through Apple’s In-App Purchase and the RevenueCat service. RevenueCat processes your subscription and purchase status. It receives only a pseudonymous, hashed identifier — never your email or raw Apple ID. Purchase data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you.

The microphone is used only for optional speaking and pronunciation practice, and only after you grant permission. Audio is processed for that practice and is not stored on or sent to any CitizenReady server.
CitizenReady is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages, but it is designed for adults preparing for the U.S. naturalization test. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the app collects no personal information that leaves your device in the first place.
If you signed in, you can permanently delete your account and all data on this device from Account settings: tap your account, then “Delete Account.” This erases your login credentials, study progress, and detaches your subscription — it can’t be undone. You can also uninstall the app to remove all local data. Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription — manage or cancel it in the App Store.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, note the change in the app.
